J & Ray Outfitters (also known as J & Ray Colorado High Country) is a long-standing family operation that specialized in wilderness big game hunts for Elk and Mule Deer. Operating under a special use permit on BLM lands, the outfitter was known for its “experience of a lifetime” hunts in the rugged high country of Western Colorado. The operation was strictly traditional, emphasizing fair-chase ethics and providing a team of skilled guides—many of whom were Larry’s own family members—to lead hunters through the timbered ridges and alpine basins where local herds are most active.
